What Affiliate Unlocks

Twitch Affiliate is the first monetization milestone. Once accepted, you can earn from subscriptions, Bits, and ad revenue. You also get channel points, custom emotes (starting with one slot), and subscriber-only chat. For most creators, Affiliate is the turning point from hobby to income.

Affiliate Requirements in 2026

Twitch tracks four metrics over a rolling 30-day window. You must hit all of them:

  • 500 total minutes broadcast (about 8.3 hours)
  • Seven unique broadcast days
  • Average of 3 concurrent viewers

Check your progress anytime at Creator Dashboard → Achievements → Path to Affiliate. The dashboard shows green checkmarks as you complete each requirement.

Fastest Path to Affiliate

Stream on a consistent schedule — four days per week for two hours beats random eight-hour marathons. The seven-day requirement means you need at least seven separate calendar days with a stream, not seven sessions in one week of grinding. Raid similar small channels after your stream ends; many creators return the favor with a follow.

Promote your Twitch link in one non-spammy way on every platform you use. A single Discord community or friend group watching pushes your average viewers above three faster than hoping for random discovery.

Accepting the Invitation

When you qualify, Twitch sends an email and a notification on your dashboard. You have 30 days to accept before the invite expires. Click Get Started, complete the onboarding wizard, and enter your legal name, address, and tax information (W-9 for US creators, W-8BEN for international).

Payment Setup

Affiliate payouts require a minimum of $50 (or local equivalent) and a valid tax form. Link a PayPal account or enable direct deposit under Settings → Payments. Payouts arrive approximately 15 days after the end of each month you earn.

After Affiliate — First Steps

  • Upload your first subscriber emote (112 × 112 px, PNG, transparent background)
  • Set up one channel point reward (e.g., "Pick the next game")
  • Enable Bits cheering in your dashboard
  • Thank new subscribers on stream — retention starts immediately

Affiliate is a checkpoint, not the finish line. Keep the same streaming habits that got you here and set Partner as your next long-term goal.
